Emergency Orthodontic Care

Orthodontic emergencies don’t often occur, but when they happen, you can rest assured that we’re here for you! If you have a problem such as a loose brace or a wire that is annoying you, just give us a call. If you experience an orthodontic emergency, we can usually take care of it on the same day. With more than 30 years of experience, Dr. Slutsky will know exactly what to do to make you feel better.

While you should always feel free to call our Philadelphia or Bensalem orthodontic office if you have an emergency, there are a few things you can do at home to relieve discomfort.

General soreness

General soreness from the braces usually goes away within a few days. If you experience discomfort, you can take medicine such as Tylenol or Motrin at directed on the bottle to alleviate the symptoms.

 

 

Headgear

If your headgear comes loose or doesn't fit properly, stop wearing it until you return to our office.

Loose appliance

If your appliance is poking you, place wax on the offending part.

Loose bracket

If a brace comes loose, usually it is best to leave it alone and give us a call to check it. We try to fix broken braces on the same day if possible.

Loose wire

If a wire is loose, usually it is best to leave it alone and give us a call to check it.

Poking wire

If a wire is poking, you can place wax on the wire (which we will give you) until you can come in and have us check it.
